Thanksgiving

I got to host Thanksgiving at my house this year!

I actually really was looking forward to decorating the tables for an actual dinner party! I’ve never been able to do that before!

Here was the Adult Table: I used polka dot wrapping paper I found in the $1 section of target for a table runner.  I had the orange placemats already, but I used argyle pieces of scrapbook paper on top of them and under the plates.  I got the yellow floral plates at a thrift store a few years ago. I already had the basket (Pick Your Plum) and the pumpkins (Walmart) and the leaves (walmart).  I printed off these utensil holders.   DSC_0039-2DSC_0040-2

I also got to do a fun kid’s table since my niece and nephews were coming (as well as my own kids).  I got these plates at Target last year and this is my first time using them! They are perfect for kids because of the different sections.  I decorated their table with thanksgiving stickers and leaves and coloring pages.  The table was covered with paper so they could color on it, too, if they wanted to.  DSC_0036-2DSC_0052-2 I made these cute suckers for all the kids.  I just covered the suckers with brown paper and then glued on leaves for tails, googly eyes and felt beaks and gizzards.  The kids LOVED them.  DSC_0045-2And then of course all the yummy foods…  DSC_0060-2DSC_0062-2DSC_0043-2

Little Miss Ruby Kate slept for over 4 hours in her swing (most of that time it was turned off!) I guess she needed to catch up. DSC_0065-2

Don’t forget the PIE!!!  My sister brought pumpkin pies and then I made an apple pie.  I made the crust for the chocolate pie, too, but the filling I had Brenda help me with that!  The chocolate pie was SO GOOD.  You can find the recipe here.   DSC_0072

It was so fun to hang out with my sisters family and with Scott’s mom on Thanksgiving! One of the best ones we’ve had in all the years we’ve been married.

One Month

Everybody loves baby feet!

DSC_9394-2 (2)

Ruby is One Month old!

I’m anxiously weighing her (in a parent-holding her on the scale hack-y kind of way) because I don’t think she is gaining much.  I don't think she is a very good eater and I can’t get her to take a bottle.  The one time I got her to drink a bottle she pretty much threw up the entire 2-3 oz all over me, the chair, the floor.  I’ve never seen a baby throw up like that in one shot!

She’s really really fussy especially at night.  It’s not enough to call it colic, but it’s enough to drive us to insanity.  She wakes up every 2 hours at night and she eats all the time! It’s pretty exhausting trying to appease her and keep the other two kids in check, too. Don’t come to my house because it’s a mess all the time.  Sam is my big mess-maker and creates the biggest chaos of toys and mess every single day!

Ruby had a some broken blood vessels in her eyes (especially the left) from birth trauma.  This picture shows it  pretty good.  Her eyes are still really dark, but I’m pretty sure they will lighten up and be bright blue like mine and the boys’ eyes.  The red spot should take a few more weeks but will eventually get better and go away. {10-12-14}DSC_9567-2

Here she is hanging out in the recovered bouncy chair.  She does not love it like the boys and will only be there 5 or 10 minutes before wanting to be picked up. {10-16-14}DSC_9614-2 DSC_9621-2 DSC_9633-2

I love these pictures—our own little sleeping beauty  {10-23-14}DSC_9670-2DSC_9394-2b

This picture is shortly after a bath (her hair is still curly) and sucking on her binky even though she hates it.  She’s my only baby to hate the binky from day one and also to prefer a Soothie type instead of the Mam type I love and bought tons of. (figures)  {10-28-14}DSC_9687-2
