The flights were great and Luke took long naps ( 1 1/2 hours!) on my lap both ways and played and chomped on my arsenal of yummy snacks the rest of the time. I played games on my Zune while he slept and when he was awake he was pretty easy to deal with and flirted with pretty much everyone near by. I lost count how many times people commented on his cuteness or his big blue eyes...
The weather was special ordered for ME---cloudy and high 60s low 70s with some rain!! It was AWESOME. That's not really typical end of august ohio weather--so it really was just for me :) It did get sunny toward the end of my trip so that was good because I wanted to take Luke to the beach.
A lot of the time I just hung out with my parents and my brother Andrew came up for the weekend from Indianapolis, so we hung out with him too. Watched movies, went out to eat a few times, and I spent a lot of the time cleaning my room out too! I found some fun treasures. I shipped 5 boxes home and brought back a 2nd suitcase of stuff from my room. 2 boxes of books, 2 boxes of bottles from my glass collection, and the rest was just miscellaneous stuff I wanted to keep or saved for "the day when i have my own house" which is now :) I'll be posting pictures of some of those funky "treasures" on another post when I get the chance this weekend.
We took Luke to the FarmPark in Kirtland. It's basically just a huge farm and you can go learn about and pet the animals. And see their gardens and walk a corn maze. We used to go there on field trips for school--I also remember painting a barn there for a Youth Conference service project.
We also took Luke to the beach-- Lake Erie--it's only about a block away from our house to where you can see it and a 5 minute drive to the public beach state park. Luke was fascinated by the hundreds of seagulls. He L-o-v-e-d the water, but it was too cold for swimming so we had to hold him back from jumping right in!!
We had to show him how to walk in the sand and play with it with his hands, too. We weren't there very long though because after only about 15 minutes Luke face-planted in the sand and his whole face and hand were covered--he kept trying to wipe it out of his face, but there was still sand on his hands so it was an endless circle of awful. So we dunked him in the water a bit and then had to head home. I still got the pictures I wanted though so it was all good.
It was a good trip,
but I was very glad to see my hubby
and just be HOME.
